12ft String Measure Available in Maroon, White or Sky Blue. The measure of choice for serious bowlers, the chunky size giving good grip and solid contact with room for a finger to be inserted under the spike for fine contact adjustment.
This is the one with the steel tape. It's a sturdy design and despite containg 10 feet of beautifully crafted steel it's smaller in the pocket than the string-based 9 foot measures. However, it has to be said that the bowls community has taken a bit of a dislike to them, regarding them as somehow inferior to the string-based alternatives. They are less expensive, too which works against them because some people think cheap goes together with nasty, as in the saying "cheap and nasty".
Frankly, we feel that this is measured discrimination, and are getting up a petition to make it illegal to incite measure hatred. There is nothing nasty about these measures, far from it, in fact they are amongst the nicest measures available ... and some of my best friends use them. The rumour that they are attempting to establish a caliperate has also been dismissed by MI5 as rink 9 propaganda.
Set of four semi-circular bowls wedges. Purpose: to prevent an unstable bowl at rest from moving or falling over while being measured.Usage: push one wedge gently across carpet towards the front edge of a canting bowl until contact is just made with the part of the bowl resting on the carpet. This will ensure it doesn't fall forwards in the direction of the cant.Once it is securely in place, position a second wedge on the opposite side of the bowl to ensure it is not pushed backwards during the measurement operation.
